Dickies Medical Uniforms: The Iconic American Brand

The US brand Dickies marked its 100th anniversary last year. Let’s take a look back on its history and discover the new products on offer at Happythreads!

A Bespoke Brand

Established in 1922, Dickies was founded in Texas and was a brand centred around workers from the onset. Dickies created workwear for a wide range of professions such as farmers, cooks and nurses. Amidst World War II, Dickies manufacturing was acquired to make uniforms for the American soldiers. After the war, Dickies introduced its brand to Europe and proceeded to create comfortable and reliable attire for all workers.

This wealth of experience allowed Dickies to enhance its attire and increase its knowledge of several professions. With the requirements of workers at the forefront of their minds, Dickies branched into various sectors and tailored its attire through the use of cutting edge technology. Now, Dickies offers bespoke ranges for different industries such as medical, construction, agriculture and landscaping.

Dickies Fashion

During the 1980’s, Dickies could be seen on well known American rap artists. This positioned Dickies into popular culture and made the brand more than simply workwear. In Latin American communities Dickies was largely embraced and was linked to urban clothing. Now associated with a younger demographic, Dickies was embraced by skateboarding communities in the 1990s and has been seen on many celebrities.

Continuously present in popular culture, the brand is now appreciated by a wide audience for its simple and comfortable cuts, streetwear style, and excellent quality. Starting from professional workwear, Dickies has managed to evolve and adapt not only to changes in various occupations but also in fashion trends. Its products remain synonymous with quality and durability, regardless of their use.

Still relevant in current pop culture, the brand is now loved by many for its basic but comfortable cuts, streetwear style and high quality. Dickies started as workwear but evolved and adapted to changes in professions and fashion trends. Dickies attire continues to be associated with high quality and reliability, however they are used.
